SILBURY PANORAMA
(ABOVE) From overhead the West
Kennet Longbarrow ( out of view directly below) Silbury
Hill (1) dominates this Wiltshire aerial landscape photographed
in late June 1998. The River Kennet is still a dribble (2) as
it passes west of Avebury
( just out of picture, top right) and then beneath the A4 Bath
road (3) before turning east (4) having been given a boost by the
Swallowhead Spring (7) on its 50 mile journey to join the River
Thames at Reading.
Crop formations still visible are the Beltane
Wheel (5) and the Dragon
(6) soon to be slain by John Deere.
(BELOW) Early August 1998. The same
location viewed from the opposite direction. Avebury Circle and West
Kennet Avenue extend across the centre of the picture surrounded by
recent crop formations
(8).
